Responsibilities:
The Import/Export Specialist is responsible for validating and maintaining Import/Export tariff codes, assisting, and supporting, team and Manager to ensure compliance with all US Customs and other Government Agency requirements and regulations relating to export; as well as import, trade sanctioned country due diligence and other trade compliance matters related to acquisition project(s). This person will be working to improve Global Trade Compliance and assist with implementing the best business practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide operational excellence and ensure compliance with Import & Export regulations.. Trade Compliance experience is essential.
  • Monitor Global Trade Management (GTM) system business monitor for transactions on hold and take necessary action
  • Designate customs classifications (HTS, Sch B & ECCN) of all products imported or exported, for US and European Compliance Team
  • Perform DPL / RPL screening for new customers or change in existing customers
  • Review Letter of Credit as per latest regulation
  • Assist Team with trade sanctioned country’s due diligence
  • Partner and obtain internal QA, Regulatory documents, or external Chamber of Commerce COO to support customer excellence
  • Assist with auditing ourselves & DC’s to assure proper compliance
  • Partner with cross-functional team members for compliance requirements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in Import/Export Regulations and business environment leading to new or changing requirements in documents / certificates as needed.
  • Investigate and follow up on shipment delays resulting from documents / certificates.
  • Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 10%).
  • Perform other duties and/or projects, as assigned.
  • Support Lean principles and disciplines
  • Travel up to 10%
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience may be substituted if appropriate.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Import/Export Customs Compliance & on hand knowledge of International Trade and Export Regulations.
  • Proficiency with US Harmonized Tariff Codes, Global Harmonized Tariff Codes and Export Control Classifications
  • Ability and willingness to work in a matrix team environment.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Oracle preferred
  • Experience with Global Trade Management Software is a plus
  • Organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality is mandatory.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in English
  • Experience in a multi-national manufacturing and distribution organization, medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a multi-national manufacturing and distribution organization, medical device, pharmaceutical, biological industry, or closely related field preferred.
  • Ability to work in a matrix team environment and work independently
  • Ability to develop and update procedures or processes while complying with policies
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Power Point, Access & Oracle
