Gold Bond Building Products is a fully integrated building products manufacturer and one of the leading gypsum board producers in the world. Placed end-to-end, the company’s annual gypsum board production would travel around the earth over 14 times.

We have an immediate need for an Industrial Machinist at our Portsmouth, NH wallboard manufacturing facility.

The primary role of the Industrial Machinist is to provide competent and effective machining support to Plant operations with minimal supervision. The ability to perform work safely, meet the needs of Operations, execute the maintenance program and comply with all safety rules is paramount. The Industrial Machinist uses various methods to design and produce precision parts; repair and alter machinery, machine parts, tools and equipment. with a high level of accuracy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):

  • Responsible for keeping Safety First for you and your co-workers.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling
  • machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches
  • and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
  • Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics
  • and composites
  • Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting
  • tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
  • Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Selects the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Plans the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
  • Determines and program size of batches and speed of machine
  • Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
  • Monitors machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues
  • Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Measures, examines, and test completed units to detects defects and ensures conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Maintains industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
  • Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a clear focus on safety as the main priority of the job.
  • Minimum of four years’ machinist working in an industrial manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints & use precision tools.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. micrometers, veneers, dial indicators) to take accurate measurements
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Knowledge of metal properties and other material
  • Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities
  • Strong machinist and fabrication skills with an ability to engineer and design solutions for process changes and must be able to use manual lathe & milling machine. Not CNC equipped.
  • Positive attitude toward change and the ability to adapt and relate to the work environment and the associates.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to work flexible shift schedules up to 12-hour shifts as determined by business need
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
  • Physically able to stand, climb ladders and walk for extended periods of time.

Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
