Position Summary

We are currently seeking an Industrial Mechanic at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Manager, Manufacturing Operations, the Industrial Mechanic will primarily be responsible for safely disassembling and assembling rock crusher machines and sub-assemblies as part of an overall remanufacture process.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of safety and ensure that the team maintains a safety-first culture
  • Disassemble crusher subassemblies using hand tools and power tools (electric, pneumatic, battery and hydraulic)
  • Powerwash and sandblast components to perform a pre-reman inspection
  • Use common metrology equipment to distinguish focused areas needing further attention such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges and feeler gauges.
  • Utilize both paper and electronic parts books and operation manuals to order parts that need replacement
  • Use torches, plasma cutters, saws, lancing and air arcing equipment to remove material
  • Use hydraulic rams to push and pull pieces in and out of place
  • Ensure completion of quality control documentation in both the pre-inspection and final inspection categories
  • Perform shrink fit operations using liquid nitrogen, dry ice, rosebuds, induction and oil baths
  • Torque bolts using hydraulic wrenches, lithium torque wrenches, torque multipliers and hand torque wrenches
  • Set clearances on bearings and gears
  • Influence others in the work group to remain on task and reduce socialization
  • Complete task training on all overhead cranes, forklifts, sweepers, manlift, scissor lifts, welders and torches within 90 days of hire
  • Complete OSHA forklift classroom and hands on evaluation on all 11 forklifts immediately upon hire
  • Use 5S methodology in conjunction with the floor sweeper to maintain a clean and safe workplace
  • Extend total life expectancy of assets by learning PM procedures for all equipment utilized and remanufactured by the mechanic group
  • Flexibility to work schedule with changing needs based on workload; will include some Fridays and weekends
  • Report damaged tools and tag out of service so that they can be replaced
  • Develop operational equipment checks to catch failures before they arise


Qualifications and Skills:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Must be a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and at high level of accountability to operational requirements
  • A strong mechanical background
  • Ability to correctly measure parts, clearances and interference fits with micrometers and calipers are necessary to perform the job functions
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to report and transfer information
  • Must have the willingness and ability to travel on an above average level
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, cold and wind, sometimes rain, will be required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. will be required
