We are currently seeking qualified Millwrights to join our fast growing operation in Martinsville, VA. The primary responsibility of the Millwright is to keep all production machinery and equipment throughout the mill in good working condition. It is essential to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, repair and replace machinery, parts, equipment, in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.

Essential Duties:

• To use a wide variety of hand and power tools as well as assistive devices.
• To weld, use cutting torch, and braze.
• To perform minor electrical work.
• To read blueprints, schematics, simple drawings, may be essential to make simple drawings.
• To fabricate parts, equipment and machinery.
• Operate shop equipment including drill presses, grinders, hydraulic presses, band saws/skill saws.
• Be able operate forklift, Millwright truck, front-end loader.
• Be able work at a variety of heights.
• To complete work both in the field and in the shop, including disassembly and assembly.
• To complete repairs, replacements, diagnostic and troubleshooting activities in steam systems. To operate man-lift, mobile cranes, loaders, tractors, bobcat.
• To work to precise tolerances, essential to work in confined areas. Essential to consult technical manuals as well as technicians.
• To maintain a library of technical information. Essential to complete activities on a scheduled and as-needed basis.
• To complete PM sheets, work orders, essential to outline daily activities.
• To perform clean-up activities such as sweeping, shoveling, using an air hose.
• To communicate with a variety of personnel including supervisors, fellow maintenance crew members, production personnel.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting: Essential to lift tool pouches, hand tools, come-a-longs, parts and equipment weighing up to and over 100 lbs., including cylinders (e.g. 70 lbs.), components, ladders, materials and supplies. Lifting occurs at all levels from floor to overhead heights.
• Carrying: Lightweight items may be carried extended distances, items weighing between 35 and 50 lbs. are generally carried no further than 20 feet, and items weighing up to 75 lbs. are generally carried only 2-3 feet. Assistive devices including hoists, dollies, forklifts are used to move heavier items whenever possible.
• Pushing/Pulling: Light to heavy pushing and pulling force is required to remove, replace, position, maneuver machine parts, and assistive devices such as hoists and chain falls are used whenever possible to facilitate pushing and pulling activities. Assistance is also available from other personnel.
• Bending and Squatting): Essential to bend at the waist to work on lower levels of equipment and machinery, inspect operational conditions, troubleshoot and diagnose problems, pick something up from lower levels. Essential to squat for short duration when completing repairs, replacement, inspecting and diagnosing problems.
• Climbing. Essential to climb stairs, ladders, essential to climb onto equipment and machinery
• Twisting: Essential to twist upper body while moving something, making repairs, completing maintenance activities.
• Crawling: Essential to crawl beneath or onto equipment and machinery.
• Reaching above shoulder level: Essential to reach above shoulder level to work at upper levels of machinery and equipment.
• Reaching at or below shoulder level: Essential to reach for diagnostic, troubleshooting, repair, disassembly, reassembly, installation procedures.
• Kneeling: Essential to kneel at lower levels of equipment and machinery during inspections and making repairs or replacements.
• Driving: Essential to drive mobile equipment including forklift, welding truck, man-lift.
• Simple Grasping: Essential to grasp hand and power tools, implements, parts, and a power grasp is often required. Essential to turn hand tools, essential to install and remove parts, essential to align parts. C. Essential to manipulate small components, fasteners, tools, parts, controls.
• Pushing/Pulling: Essential to move parts, equipment and tools, essential to turn steering wheel and move levers of mobile equipment.
• Fine Manipulation: Essential to manipulate small components, fasteners, tools, parts, controls.

Work Experience Requirements:

Proven experience of 3 to 5 years working as a Millwright in an Industrial setting.
