Medieval Times is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our corporate team in Irving, TX!

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Infrastructure Engineer is vital in building, deploying, and maintaining IT Infrastructure. This Engineer ensures all IT systems function securely, seamlessly, and efficiently. This position plans and executes Infrastructure upgrades while working autonomously and as a key part of the IT Team. The Infrastructure Engineer applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolves issues to maximize the benefit of IT investments. Proper assessment and identification of risk is vital to this role.

This position is an escalation point for the company and a key member of Medieval Times IT Team. This person is expected to keep industry infrastructure best practices in place while keeping security at the top of mind.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving technical escalations
• Work with team members to resolve business systems issues.
• Collaborate with IT department team members, solution partners, and service providers regarding break/fix.
• Input to and implementation of security policies
• Ensure that root cause analyses is completed to avoid recurrence of issues and follow through with a well-defined knowledge base article.
• Monitor system connectivity of all servers, shared software and resources, and other applications.
• Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house Infrastructure systems.
• Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
• Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
• Provide technical orientation and training to IT team and end users.
• Provides timely attention to Helpdesk escalations. Assesses the validity of the requests as they arrive, ensures the details within the ticket are complete and that the impact and criticality of the issue is correctly assessed. Re-allocates and/or escalates requests as appropriate.
• Performs daily ticket maintenance and management. Follows up on requests and annotates tickets as appropriate with progress and status. Ensures the requestor stays informed.
• Pays special attention to time sensitive business requests and makes smart decisions to ensure minimal user impact
• Security maintenance including patching and confirmation of such across all Medieval Times systems.
• Makes pragmatic recommendations on system and process enhancements.
• Ensures configurations, system features and site information are appropriately documented.
• Establish and maintain a thorough knowledge of the organization and technology standards.
• Responsible for communicating, promoting, and adhering to IT standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Programming Knowledge: PowerShell or other relevant scripting and Excel formulas.

Required Systems Knowledge: Working knowledge of Fortinet Infrastructure and fabric services. Technical knowledge of Active Directory and other Windows Server Architecture. Experience with Office 365 and Azure. Expertise in implementing integrated identity solutions/SSO. Experience working with managed service providers for infrastructure projects. Windows 10 Hardening, Zone-based Firewall, TCP/IP, WLAN, and VLAN. Practical knowledge and application of security best practices. Experience supporting end users, remote and local. A practical knowledge of Intranet and Internet Technologies, servers, networking, and telephony.

Beneficial Systems Knowledge: Exposure to COBIT, ISO 270001, SOX or other security frameworks and regulation

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and equipment maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine policies, procedures, reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees and vendors of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Superior ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and various financial calculations.

Reasoning Ability: Considerable experience with relationship management and interpersonal business development. Must solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

University technical degree desirable and/or 4 years equivalent work experience. Fortinet NSE, ITIl v4 certifications a plus. A minimum of two years of related experience with implementing, configuring, supporting enterprise infrastructure. Familiarity with Retail/Payment Solutions and PCI Security Council Standards helpful. Experience with Generally Accepted Principles and Practices for Securing Information Technology Systems as per NIST; certifications not required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Experience mentoring IT professionals. This job has no direct in-house supervisory responsibilities but will have direct vendor (external) supervisory responsibilities.

Must be self-motivated and require little direct supervision.
