ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Inspectors perform independent inspections, evaluations, and reviews of Agency policy, programs, and operations. They gather and analyze information, identify areas for improvement, draft findings and recommendations, and prepare reports and other products in accordance with Agency, NGA Office of Inspector General (OIG), Intelligence Community (IC), and Department of Defense (DoD) written guidance and established Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) standards. They follow up on report recommendations to ensure that appropriate corrective actions are identified and implemented.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Duties: 1. Conduct root-cause analysis; determine corrective actions, resource and educational requirements, and ultimate authority and accountability. 2. Conduct unbiased compliance and effectiveness inspections; detect systemic problems, as well as individual or group deficiencies, irregularities, or violations. 3. Develop inspection plan including problem or topic, scope, timing and guidelines; document substantiated findings, draw conclusions, develop recommendations, and draft reports. Mandatory Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Proven understanding and experience with inspection and evaluation techniques. 2. Proven ability to effectively communicate orally or in writing, while preparing and presenting briefings to all levels of management. 3. Demonstrated ability to provide effective customer service while working across organizational layers within internal and external entities. 4. Ability to conduct research, analyze data and information, and draw conclusions. 5. Ability to prepare thorough, accurate, and objective written reports and correspondence utilizing advanced technical writing skills. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, or a related field. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in conducting applied research and analysis, documenting findings and conclusions, performing inspections, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals to 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in conducting applied research and analysis, documenting findings and conclusions, or performing inspections, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.

Highly Desired Qualifications

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Ability to move seamlessly from one project to another. 2. Ability to respond well to shifting priorities. 3. Experience with Department of Defense or Intelligence Community organizations.

Additional Job Requirements

You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information. All employees are subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs. Employees with SCI access and who are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a Security Financial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Failure to comply may negatively impact continued access to Top Secret information, Information Systems, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.

PROMOTION OPPORTUNITY: Promotion opportunities allow applicants at all band levels to be considered. Qualifications for NGA positions do not include specific time-in-band requirements. NGA will emphasize quality of experience, rather than duration, and assess how the quality of the experience demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance in the NGA occupational structure.
