SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Specialist will serve as network and system administrator for all of TCA software and equipment, while working closely with Third-party contractors on more complex technological issues. The IT Specialist is responsible for defining the strategic vision for information and technology and ensuring that it is effectively aligned with TCA Health's organizational vision and goals. The IT Specialist must evaluate and propose strategic and technical directions for information, telecommunication and related technologies that assist in furthering the operational capabilities at TCA Health.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT/IS-related field PREFERRED.
  • Experienced as a facilitator, diplomat, and negotiator/mediator; expresses action-oriented and creative approaches to information systems issues and problems.
  • Equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • College degree in computer science or information technology related field. 1-3 years prior experience in information technology REQUIRED.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of the healthcare environment including an understanding of HRSA FQHC requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of practice management and EMR technology.
  • Knowledge of current business practices and computing systems, interfaces, and standard software and hardware requirements.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare issues, information systems, management issues, and current trends.
  • Background in project management and planning, process mapping, group presentation, leadership, team building, written and verbal communication, analytical and organizational skills, and budget management.
  • Broad understanding of complex heterogeneous technologies and the ability to synthesize new technical information into existing structures.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance i.e., HIPAA.
  • Evaluate and monitor on a regular basis TCA’s software, systems, and databases to ensure proper installation, functionality, and usage.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software to minimize downtime and maximize delivery of TCA services.
  • As help desk staff, responds to software problem calls for users. Investigates error messages and determines resolution. Calls software vendor or accesses online technical support to obtain software update. Trains users in basic PC/software usage. Provide ongoing follow-ups/status reports to users, and perspectives on priorities.
  • Oversee all proactive desktop and server maintenance, ensuring that operating systems, business software and anti-virus solutions are current and appropriately patched. Maintains up-to-date expertise in the operation and application of standard microcomputer software and a working knowledge of a wide variety of commonly used hardware and software, including servers and operating systems.
  • Provide recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in database use and reporting systems across the organization. Evaluate business needs, objectives, and goals, researching products available and recommending procedures to best meet those needs. Develop plans for implementation of new projects, coordinating process with project leader.
  • Maintains all telephone related hardware and software at an efficient and effective level.
  • Responsibilities also include performing and completion of special projects as assigned by the CEO and Project Manager
