Job Summary

The IT Technician provides support to computer users who need assistance with software, hardware, network connection and/or peripherals such as printers and scanners. The IT Technician is responsible for computer inventory and other IT Help Desk services as directed.

Essential Functions

  • Provide assistance to end users as the first level of contact and work to find resolutions to computer user issues.
  • Properly escalate unresolved queries to the next level of support.
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers, scanners and other peripherals.
  • Perform diagnostics and resolve computer performance problems.
  • Ensure proper recording, documentation and closure of service tickets.
  • Stay current with technology by attending IT courses and seminars.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently.
  • Adhere to Kenaitze Indian Tribe Policies & Procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.

Comments: Travel is required between the Tribe's program locations. Other travel for training will be offered, but not required.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Experience

  • Experience with Windows 7, 8.1, 10 desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite after 2007 version.
  • Experience with help desk ticketing systems and asset/inventory tracking tasks.
  • Experience with face-to-face support as well as remote support.

License/Certification

  • Alaska Driver's License and must remain insurable under the tribe's policy.

Special Skills

  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

  • Associates degree in computer related field and/or two years of experience in computer industry.
  • Computer Industry certifications (CompTIA A+ and Network+; Microsoft MCT and MCSA; and Cisco CCNA).
  • Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian people.
