New-Indy Oxnard, LLC is currently seeking applicants for the position of Journeyman Mechanic at the paper mill located in Oxnard, CA. Individual must have professional experience as a journeyman level Mechanic. This is an hourly position governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and rebuilding of all applicable equipment throughout the mill, and is responsible for assuring that machines are kept running. This position is categorized as heavy work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for machinery maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading and installations within a high volume, continuous -run working environment.

• Performs predictive and preventive maintenance within the facility

• Sets up and operates tools such as drill press, air drills, grinders, impact wretch, hydraulic rams, cutting torches and variety of ratchets, screw drivers, drills, hammers[list is not all encompassing]

• Performs repairs on equipment, or fabricate items, such as forklifts, manlifts, machine guards, catwalks, pumps, cylinders, gear boxes, oscillators, electric carts, cranes [list is not all inclusive]

• Rebuild items such as refiners and press roles [list is not all inclusive]:

• Read a variety of gauges and devices including calipers and micrometers

• Replace items such as tubing, piping, hoses and valves

• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines

• Cleans work area by sweeping, picking up items and cleaning equipment

• Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Minimum of five years industrial Mechanical experience with four years apprenticeship or equivalent.

• Proven safety record and working knowledge of industrial safety procedures with a proven record for safe work practices.

• Must be able to follow written and oral instruction in English. Effective communication skills.

• Must be able to wear all required personal safety equipment including eye protection, hearing protection and fall protection in elevated positions.

• Ability to be part of a multi-functional/multi-skill maintenance organization with a willingness to flow to work as required by changing mill conditions and priorities.

• Ability to perform physical requirements and acclimate to work environment.

• May require to work day shift and/or tour shift (12 hours – 2 day shifts and 2 night shifts)

PREFFERED:

• Paper mill maintenance experience preferred.

• Forklift maintenance experience a plus

• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.

• Experience with Maximo a plus

Applicant must successfully complete mechanical aptitude test, pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
