Benefits to you:
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $17.28 - $28.13.

Position Highlights:
The
Columbia County Circuit Court
in Saint Helens, Oregon, is hiring a Cashier, Scanning, and Copy Clerk (Judicial Services Specialist 2).
In this role, you will provide customer service at the public counter by accepting court filings and other documents after reviewing them for accuracy and completeness. You will route phone calls to proper parties and will answer questions from judges, court staff, attorneys, agencies, law enforcement, and the public about case files, dates, accounts receivable, payments, and criminal and civil searches.
As a cashier, you will handle cash, check, and credit card payments, generate receipts, credit payments to people’s cases/accounts, balance receipts at the end of each shift, and turn in payments for deposit or storage in the court safe.
Additionally, you will verify the accuracy, quality, and completeness of documents scanned into the court’s electronic case management system, prepare and certify copies of court documents, scan and file new cases and documents, and determine the amount of filing fees.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have at least one (1) year of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possess a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.

  • Experience being responsible for a cash drawer and handling cash and other money transactions for the purpose of receiving payments, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks that included using a computer to enter and retrieve information, meeting strict deadlines, and maintaining accuracy when interrupted or distracted by a noisy work setting.
  • Ability to provide customer service and maintain a professional demeanor to people who are facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Ability to learn how to identify confidential information and materials or experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.
Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds and with people who may at times be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated due to challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Long periods of sitting or standing; frequent stair walking and lifting items weighing up to 20 pounds may be required.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.

Criminal Background Check
You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
