Thalle Construction Co. Inc. (“Thalle”) is currently seeking a skilled, dedicated, results oriented Junior Estimator to be part of our growing team. The Junior Estimator will report to the Senior Estimator and work closely with and support the estimating team. This role will interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located out of our office in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Job Title: Junior Estimator

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Junior Estimator’s primary responsibility is to support and assist the Senior Estimators in preparation of bids and estimates by performing quantity take-offs, data input, product research, and subcontractor acquisition.

  • Performs quantity take-offs.
  • Provides accurate data input and product research.
  • Generates subcontractor acquisitions.
  • Conducts business with 100% integrity and professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a construction, related degree or commensurate practical experience.
  • Heavy civil estimating or related field construction experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in pre-construction/construction capacity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • HCSS experience.
  • Ability to perform take-offs for the following work types: CIP & Precast Concrete, Structural, Reinforcing & Misc. Steel, Sheeting, Piling, Cellular Cofferdam, Landfills, DOT, etc.
  • Familiarity with reading heavy civil construction drawings & blueprints.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
