    Job Title: Kitchen – Cafeteria Attendant
    Kent ISD Center Program

    The ability, skill and knowledge to operate basic kitchen equipment and facilitate the distribution of student meals at designated lunch periods. Ability to learn and comply with the Michigan Department of Health standards and regulations affecting food service. Ability to read, comprehend and implement instructions in order to plan and perform job duties. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with teachers, students and general public. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details; also ability to organize, prioritize and work independently as well as schedule and produce work in a timely manner.

    Job Qualifications:
    • High School diploma.
    • Associates degree or higher in a related field preferred, but not required.
    • Ability and commitment to obtain ServSafe certification through district provided training.
    • Ability, skill and knowledge to operate kitchen equipment.
    • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn Michigan Department of Health standards and regulations affecting food service including FIFO, HAACP, MSDS, and MIOSHA.
    • Ability to read, comprehend and transmit detailed instructions in order to plan and perform job duties.
    • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with teachers, students, and general public.
    • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details; also ability to organize, prioritize and work independently as well as schedule and produce work in a timely manner.
    • Ability to take direction from supervisor.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities. Demonstrates the ability to examine the impact of education inequities in student achievement outcomes as it aligns with race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
    Responsibilities:
    • Will be responsible for light prep and distribution of breakfast.
    • Will be responsible for preparing and distributing items from the serving line at various times during the day depending on the need.
    • Open and close kitchen area in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
    • Assist students and staff, as needed.
    • Other general duties as assigned
