Salary/Compensation Statement:
  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $28,499 – $33,786.
  • In addition to a base salary, position pays a commission of 12.5% for the first $6,000 per month in collections, and 15% for collections exceeding $6,000.00 per month.
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years’ relevant experience.
  • Lane’s robust Benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, basic term life insurance, long term disability, vacation leave, personal time and paid sick leave.
  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:
One (1) year of media sales, non-profit development or demanding client service experience.

Licensure or Certification Requirements
Oregon driver’s license.

  • Identifying prospects, creating proposals and building client relationships.

  • Handling multiple accounts and customers in a friendly but assertive manner.
  • Working under pressure to get Insertion Orders and Copy done by deadline.
  • Knowledge of public broadcasting underwriting standards, including on-air language requirements.
  • Digital sales and marketing.
  • Nontraditional revenue generation, such as events and sponsorship.
  • Collections that exceeded $6,000 per month.
  • Communicating service information to a diverse audience.
  • Accurate mathematical skills (such as: calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages).
  • Interpretation and presentation of data, such as audience reach and demographics.
  • Word processing, spreadsheets and internet applications (such as Word/Excel).
  • Creation of client marketing materials, including data displays and persuasive writing.
  • Creation of effective client presentations.

Position Purpose:
KLCC public media in Eugene is seeking a forward-thinking client service professional to join our underwriting team. This position will service, retain and grow existing accounts for the most listened-to radio station in the region. You’ll also develop new relationships with the regional business community and re-imagine underwriting support as KLCC expands to emerging digital products and platforms. KLCC Account Representatives typically oversee collections of > $300,000 annually, with potential for additional growth.

Essential Functions:
  • Identify and build relationships with the business community to generate support for KLCC initiatives, including broadcast, digital services and events.
  • Generate leads, contact customers, create proposals, complete account related paperwork including contracts and reports.
  • Manage contracts and track client interactions in an organized manner.
  • Work with clients to produce effective credit language consistent with KLCC standards and FCC regulations.
  • Assist clients in creation and placement of digital advertising.
  • Act as a liaison to the business community promoting the importance of KLCC community service.
  • Create compelling marketing materials to present KLCC underwriting opportunities.
  • Monitor inventory and maintain rate integrity.
  • Assist with billing and oversee account collections.
  • Apply problem solving strategies and resolve dynamic situations in a productive and professional manner.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales goals on a monthly basis.
  • Solicit support in a manner that is consistent with KLCC’s standards and practices for representing public radio; demonstrate ethics and integrity in alignment with college mission, vision, values and strategic directions.
  • Professionally represent the radio station and college to civic and trade organizations, underwriters and listeners ensuring presentation is reflective of station broadcasts and values, college mission, FCC guidelines and community involvement.
  • Participate in staff meetings and other assigned station activities; follow college and division policies and procedures.
  • Support other departments to develop promotional or trade agreements, as needed.
  • Assist with production of KLCC promotions, events and fundraisers.

Supervision Statement:
Works under the general supervision of the General Manager. Work is performed independently according to established policies, rules and regulations. Work is reviewed periodically for results achieved through feedback from customers and the overall sales record.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
The KLCC Account Representative primarily works in an office environment. The position occasionally requires external visits to meet with clients or to support KLCC promotions and events. Requires ability to work with office equipment such as phones, computers and copy machines. Requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds.
