Job Summary

The LIMS Specialist is responsible for support and management of Darling Ingredients' LabVantage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) ensuring that the LIMS meets business and operational requirements. This person must be knowledgeable about Darling Ingredients laboratories and Information Technology to be able to master the LIMS and lead the development and maintenance of the LIMS. LIMS Specialist will work with Application Management, LabVantage programmers and systems analysts to develop all needed custom programs for the laboratory, field and quality assurance. LIMS Specialist will work with Darling Information Technology staff on business requirements to ensure adequate infrastructure support to lab systems including upgrades to hardware and software and best practices for backup and recovery.

• Follow directions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accurately
• Create and maintain a roadmap for the LIMS.
• Work with the laboratory and field personnel to optimize LIMS functions for the lab, field and QA/QC operations of the laboratory
• Create and maintain procedures, configure and customize the system and system reports
• Maintain relevant master data in the LIMS system.
• Connect new instruments to LIMS and develop data transfer procedures.
• Address and resolve issues arising with the system in a timely manner
• Lead LIMS enhancements
• Learn new configuration techniques.
• Ensure that the integrity, reliability and performance of the LIMS is maintained and adequately tested against requirements.
• Map and implement business process change in LIMS per Darling Change Management Standard.
• Provide support and training to staff members that use the LIMS system.

• Assist in the development of training documents and user guides relative to LIMS
• Responsible for User Training and implementation of the LIMS
• Assist users with system usage including user provisioning, password administration and Help desk functions.
• Serve as primary contact with LIMS Technical Support Services, Darling IT, and other Darling facilities regarding LIMS.

• Work with the vendor on LabVantage Managed Services Application Support and VantageCare Support.

• Participate in internal audit reviews of the system and application.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Information Technology or related discipline required
• Previous work experience in a laboratory field as a chemist or analyst required
• 5 years LIMS experience required
• 5 years Information Technology training or experience required

• A demonstrated ability to focus on and manage detailed methodologies in a multitasking environment.
• Ability to deliver end-user training
• Previous experience with LabVantage systems.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time.
• Frequently lift up to 20 lbs.
• Occasionally push, pull, or lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out primarily in the laboratory. Some travel may be required for training or user training.
