Reports to: Production Manager

Job Description: A Carpentry Crew Member is a competent carpenter who can work independently and as part of a team. They are responsible for completing carpentry projects to a high standard, while also being able to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work are essential for success in this role.

Physical Responsibilities:

  • Good physical condition and stamina to work long days of physical labor.
  • Must have physical mobility to perform actions such as climbing, lifting, kneeling, balancing, walking, stooping and repeatedly bending.
  • Must be able to safely move materials generally weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to endure working outside with regular exposure to varying weather conditions ranging from below zero temperatures to 100 plus temperatures, including precipitation.
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders and or scaffolding.

Certifications and Licensing:

  • Valid driver’s license is preferred.

Education requirements:

  • High school diploma and/or equivalent education is required for this position.

Experience:

  • Must be able to read tape measurements.
  • Basic Math skills. (Addition, Subtraction, Division, and can read fractions).
  • Basic knowledge of best management practices for carpentry and/or the ability and interest to learn.
  • Understanding select materials being used for jobs. (Treated verses pine wood, size of materials i.e., 2x4 verses 1x4, Composite materials).
  • Ability to run Circular Saw, Compound Miter Box, and variety of hand tools.
  • Proficient at sawing boards to size.

Uniform Requirements:

  • Company issued uniform: Includes three short-sleeved and two long-sleeved shirts, one sweatshirt, ball cap, winter hat, work gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.
  • Khaki or Denim Pants or shorts that are without holes and tears. (No gym shorts/pants, sweatpants or windbreaker type of material is allowed)
  • Steel/composite safety toe boots or shoes are always required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the lead carpenter with construction and installation of various landscape features such as decks, pergolas, fences, retaining walls and other hardscaping elements.
  • Working with other crew members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communicating effectively with the lead carpenter and other crew members
  • Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  • Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
  • Maintaining the work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Operating and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Following safety protocols and procedures on the job site.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by Management
  • Participate in training programs that are industry specific to your job duties.

Work hours:

  • Available to work 50-55 hours a week, March through November.
  • Available to work 25-45 hours a week, December through February.
  • Winter work: Snow plowing or walk-behind crew on call 24/7.
