MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid Driver's License – Must be maintained during employment period.

EXPERIENCE:

1. One (1) year of experience in the Groundskeepers field

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Maintains lawns, shrubbery and trees including planting, watering, trimming, mowing, edging, fertilizing, and weed and pest control.

2. Prepares areas for planting by clearing, grading and fertilizing and watering ground.

3. Mulches all flower beds, trees and other designated areas as needed.

4. Picks up and disposes trash and debris in assigned areas using rakes, brooms and blowers.

5. Installs and assures the proper operation, maintenance and repair of in-ground sprinkler systems.

6. Trims hedges and shrubs with hand shears or power edger; prune and trim trees. Removes dead trees and plants using handsaws, chain saws and clippers.

7. Operates blower for cleaning sidewalks, drive ways and road ways of gravel and small debris.

8. Maintains all sidewalk, roadways and canopy area of debris by pressure washing.

9. Maintains all structures that require painting and maintenance, (i.e. stair rails, sidewalk poles, etc.).

10. Maintains all signage in parking area including ones hanging from light poles.

11. Maintains all pot holes and patching required on all roadways and sidewalks

12. Maintains all parking gates, Security Booths and parking equipment as needed.

13. Prepares and maintains all flowerbeds based on seasonal requirements.

14. Properly completes all required departmental documentation and reports.

15. Reports suspicious or unusual objects or packages left on property unattended to supervisor or security officer.

16. Reports any situation that might be potentially hazardous for pedestrians to supervisor.

17. Operates Hospital-owned vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, 100% of the time.

18. Operates street sweeper as directed.

19. Shovel sidewalks and treat as necessary.

20. Ensures safety and proper operating condition of vehicles by performing vehicle inspections, as outlined by departmental policy.

21. Demonstrates regard for the dignity, respect and safety of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of the organization.

22. Maintains care and upkeep of equipment and tools.
