Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader

Job Description:

This position may require the employee to perform all, but not limited to the Daily/Weekly tasks below.

This position is responsible for directing 1-5 crew members in daily operations including quality control, training, punctuality and safety. Candidates must also have strong organizational, leadership and communication skills and the ability to complete the appropriate paperwork. The Crew Leader will provide quality service that meets or exceeds our customer’s and management's expectations. A successful candidate will show attention to detail and effectively communicate with subordinates, peers and supervisors. All employees will possess a friendly customer service minded attitude and will conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Daily/Weekly tasks:

1. Daily preparation of trucks, equipment and personnel.

· Report to work at the designated start time to prepare/review the days schedule with the Grounds Maintenance Manager and prepare for day

· Communicate the daily work schedule to the crew

· Load/fill gas cans, mowers, tools and necessary equipment. Safely secure all equipment

· Check truck oil, fluids, tire pressure, proper trailer connection and insure that all lights are working properly

2. Perform and manage landscape maintenance, installation and administrative tasks associated with customer properties.

· Work in conjunction with the Grounds Maintenance Manager to ensure the scope of the service sold is implemented efficiently and according to contract specifications

· Manage and perform all “Spring operations” tasks, including, but not limited to, leaf and debris removal, bed edging and mulch installation

· Manage and perform all daily ground maintenance tasks, including but not limited to, mowing, string trimming, edging and blowing of curbs and sidewalks

· Provide "On the Job" training to crew members so they can effectively and efficiently perform all necessary of ground maintenance tasks and services

· Hand pull weeds as necessary and spray Roundup (if certified as a technician)

· Help to clean site by removing trash, limbs, rocks and debris

· Prune shrubs, trim trees and remove the resulting debris

· Oversee the implementation and use of the proper safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment of the crew. Safety is paramount

· Communicate customer's questions and concerns immediately with the Grounds MaintenanceManager.

· Keep the customer updated with the status of the work progress on their property

· Completes all supporting documentation including, but not limited to, Work Order requests, Purchase Order requests, Time Off Requests, Disciplinary Notices, Safety Procedures, Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance Forms and Quotes

· Perform other general duties as needed

3. End of day duties.

· Complete all crew member time sheets and inventory and report materials used on the jobs

· Unload equipment and materials from the day’s work and clean out trucks and trailers, including the daily removal of trash and debris

· Report damaged or broken equipment to your immediate manager

· Fill truck, mowers, equipment and gas cans with the appropriate fuel in preparation for the next day

· Perform routine daily maintenance of equipment including cleaning, changing air filters, sharpening blades and checking fluid levels

· Wash truck—weekly or as directed by Landscape Maintenance Manager

Performance skills and qualifications:

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. plus

· Available to work a varied schedule (including Saturdays) in sometimes adverse weather conditions

· Stoop, stand and bend for 10 hours or more a day

· Must have valid driver's license with a good record REQUIRED

· Carry 20 lb. back pack blower on back

· Walk 2-6 miles a day

· Lift branches and limbs

· Basic understanding of mechanical and equipment maintenance

Education, experience and Compensation:

High School diploma or GED, 2 or 4-year degree in a Landscape or Business-related field is a plus. Minimum 2 years' experience as a Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
