Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry at SUNY Geneseo (located 40 minutes from downtown Rochester, NY) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Chemistry to begin August 2023. The initial appointment will be for one year and is renewable. Duties of the position include:
  • Regularly teaching general chemistry lecture and laboratory
  • Occasionally teaching other chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, as department needs dictate
  • Providing academic advisement to students
  • Contributing service to the Department, campus community and the discipline

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • MA, MS, or PhD in Chemistry or closely related field conferred by August 2023

  • Evidence of undergraduate teaching excellence, especially in general chemistry, including lectures and laboratories.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working / teaching environment.

  • Experience with standard chemistry characterization techniques including UV, NMR and IR spectroscopy, and chromatography

  • Experience in the handling and management of chemical waste
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of effective teaching in lecture courses, specifically general chemistry lecture courses, at the college level.
