Job Summary


This position manages the library service desk; hires, trains, schedules, and supervises student assistants; provides customer service and administrative support for library operations

Responsibilities


Duty 1 -

Processes faculty/staff material order request forms; researches, orders, receives and processes items.


Duty 2 -

Processes faculty reserve requests; scans and uploads electronic reserve materials.


Duty 3 -

Processes interlibrary loan requests from internal and external customers.


Duty 4 -

Enters cataloging information into computerized database.


Duty 5 -

Gathers statistical data and collates it into a report.


Duty 6 -

Maintains library accounts with vendors.


Duty 7 -

Checks in periodicals.


Duty 8 -

Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful customer service to faculty, staff, students and the general public at the service desk; use the integrated library system to check books/materials out and in; help patrons locate specific circulating books or reserve items; collect fines and fees; and add or update patron records in the library system. Issue library cards to community patrons and patrons from other schools; explain circulation policies and procedures to patrons.


Duty 9 -

Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student assistants.


Duty 10 -

Open and close the library during specified hours, and secure library equipment.


Duty 11 -

Sort and shelve library materials and assist with shelf maintenance as needed.


Duty 12 -

Assist in the maintenance and/or troubleshooting of library equipment: including telephones, copiers, scanners, printers, computer software, etc.


Duty 13 -

Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

Required Experience
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Knowledge of library operations and procedures.

Knowledge of university policies and procedures.

Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Skill in providing quality customer services.

Minimum salary: $27,967
