A Logistics and Shipping Manager will:
You will help manage the inventory of products stored within the warehouse. Along with inventory management, you handle the entire delivery process of products by scheduling both inbound and outbound shipments and constantly monitoring them to make sure each product arrives on time and in perfect condition.
Ensure the logistical processes are running smoothly and meet with department heads to determine which logistics improvements need to be made to increase productivity levels across the department collaborating with other departments to close operational gaps.
Be responsible for:
- Developing processes that make the supply chain more efficient and organized
- Tracking and fixing shipping errors.
- Processing expense reports and issuing fuel cards.
- Scheduling the repair and maintenance of our fleet.
- Look for cost-effective methods to transport product.
- Training and mentoring employees, including reinforcement of safety guidelines.
- Understanding how each step in the production, manufacturing and distribution process works together, performing regular logistics assessments and writing reports to describe challenges and successes, documenting disruptions to prevent future issues.
Qualities
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, which is especially important when handling shipping delays or lost shipments.
- Natural ability to lead, guiding them to make smart decisions about their employer’s supply chain
- Bi- Lingual (not required but preferred)
- Familiarity with safety regulations, including those outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Job Duties
Including, but not limited to:
- Ensuring all staff in shipping department has clear direction for the day
- Coordinating shipping with all departments utilizing the Deliveries Outlook Calendar. Departments to be in touch with for coordination are:
- Unit Cabinet Department
- Custom Millwork Department
- Project Management
- Hardware Department
- Delegating tasks to shipping department to ensure efficiency throughout company
- Ensuring deliveries do not leave the building until all items on packing list have been verified by the shipping manager
- Ensuring truck drivers do not leave site until a foreman signs paperwork and takes inventory of the delivery
- Communicating to all departments listed above so that the field is aware of delivery schedule
- Maintaining warehouses outside of Charlotte Furnace location to ensure organization
Skills Required
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organization skills
- Microsoft Teams experience (not required, but preferred)
- Microsoft Outlook Calendar experience (preferred, not required)
- Well versed in Microsoft office 365 suite
- Ability to hold others accountable and provide clear and concise directions to subordinates
- Time management skills
- Experience in the implementation of 6S standards (preferred, not required)
- Inventory management experience and cycle count conduction
- Logistics experience a must!
- Proven success in receiving and managing others is required
Education
- High school diploma
- College degree is not required
