Job Description
Grace is seeking a Logistics Manager to lead our Logistics Operations at our Baton Rouge, AL manufacturing site. This position reports to Plant Manager. As a Logistics Manager, you will oversee and manage the efficient functioning of the shipping department, receiving department, on-site warehouses, and stores department for both Grace and shared site tenant. This role is also responsible for the leading and supervising staff in the shipping and receiving, planning, and inventory/store departments.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership and optimize the full life cycle of the Logistics operations; Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer services
- Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and consumers
- Keep track of and maintain quality, quantity, stock levels (safety stock for both raw, semi-finished, and finished goods), delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
- Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments
- Resolve any arising customer problems or complaints
- Supervise, coach and train staff members
- Meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets
- Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
- Comply with laws, regulations, and DOT requirements
- Manage and optimize all the fleet including trailers, ISO container, Portable tanks, etc
Physical Requirements
Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree, preferrable in Business, Logistics
- 5 years industry-related experience within logistics operations, preferably in the Chemical Industry
- 3 years supervisory experience to include leading people to achieve maximum performance
- Effective communication skills when conversing and negotiating with vendors
- Strong Excel and SAP skills with the ability to analyze data to include inventory optimization and reduction
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in SAP warehouse, inventory, MRP management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Computer skills: Team GURU, Ariba, Enablon, Outlook, Microsoft Office Products
