JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Operates lathe, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, band saws, sharpeners, etc.
• Operate and program CNC mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; proving part programs.
• Operates the machines using proper methods and safety equipment.
• Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
• Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, or samples to ensure accurate production.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation
• Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting order for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
• Coordinates and communicates information as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for analyzing facts or conditions to take regular independent action to achieve established goals and objectives. Requires 2 to 3 years of experience and prefered 2 to 4 years of college or equivalent. Position requires compliance with the Technology Control Plan and the Federal Export Control Policy established for the Corporation.

High school required, apprenticeship and college preferred.

• Experience with tool and die making processes, understanding of engineering, machining techniques
• Prefer CNC machine experience
• Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in math
