Purpose
The purpose of this classification, under direct supervision, is to distribute mail to various departments and divisions in the city and to maintain and deliver supplies. Employees in this classification perform clerical and delivery work. Position is responsible for collecting, sorting and distributing all paperwork including correspondence, and other documents such as subpoenas. Performs related work as required. Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience - High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 to 4 months previous experience and/or training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a valid State of Florida Driver"s License.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Sorts and distributes mail; prepares mail for mailing.

Picks up and delivers mail to post office and office supplies. Delivers subpoenas to the courts; transports documents to the court. Maintains postal machine and postage by mail account.
Prepares outgoing mail daily, including weighing and metering postage, recording registered and certified mail, and sorting for local and out of town mail.

Packages outgoing parcels.

Maintains copiers and inventories of paper and chemicals for each. Prepares reports and performs computer data entry.
Makes special trips for pickups and deliveries when requested.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

Copies documents and delivers supplies.

May assist the patrol division in traffic duties. Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge of Job: Has working knowledge of the methods, procedures, and policies of the City of Daytona as such pertain to the performance of the essential duties of Mailroom Coordinator. Has working knowledge of principles and practices of delivering mail, freight and parcels. Has working knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Has working knowledge of the organization of the department, and of related departments and agencies. Clearly understands the occupational hazards and safety precautions required to perform the essential functions of the work. Has working knowledge of terminology and related professional languages used within the department as such pertain to work responsibilities. Knows how to maintain cooperative and effective relationships with intra- and interdepartmental personnel, as well as any external entities with which position interacts.

Quality of Work: Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility.
