The primary mission of Correction Enterprises is to provide marketable job skills and transitional opportunities for inmates in a professional and safe work environment while providing quality goods and excellent service to our customers at a savings to the citizens of North Carolina.

This position is located at Broughton Laundry facility in Morganton NC. This position reports directly to the Correction Enterprises Manager II. This includes the maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment on a timely basis. It also includes facilities maintenance and repairs. Broughton Laundry is production-oriented and must therefore meet production schedules. In this respect, Broughton Laundry operates much like any business and must do what is necessary to satisfy schedules, customer deadlines, and provide timely deliveries. Thus, this position exists to satisfy those needs.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC09. State employees are encouraged to apply for
positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current
position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of Experience and Education listed on the application.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL* of the following:*

Demonstrated experience in repairing machinery.
Demonstrated prior skilled knowledge in at least three of the following:
electricity, machinery, planning/layout, fabrication (welding and cutting) plumbing, and carpentry.
Demonstrate experience operating common types of maintenance tools and equipment.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Must have a valid NC Driver's License.

Management Preference:
Must be willing to obtain a class A license with passenger endorsement CDL within six months of start date.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualification
May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,577.00 - $65,760.00 per year
