GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Facilities Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance required for all Noank Community Support Services’ (NCSS) buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles. The Facilities Maintenance Officer will ensure that all NCSS buildings and properties meet DCF licensing regulations and compliance with all other State and Agency standards.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages the day-to-day maintenance required by each residential program. In collaboration with the Director of Performance Improvement & Quality Assurance, develops and maintains a maintenance schedule for each agency property.
  • Manages the maintenance schedule for each of the agency’s vehicles. Assure that the vehicles receive proper, timely maintenance according to the manufacturers schedule and the apparent needs of the vehicle.
  • Manages the general repair and renovation of the agency’s property and buildings. Solicits bids from contractors when appropriate. Oversees compliance by contractors regarding their fulfillment of the work stipulations set forth in written contracts.
  • Manages the services provided to the agency by vendors responsible for trash removal, landscaping, snow removal, sprinkler inspection, fire alarm servicing, and extermination.
  • Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
  • Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.
  • Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets or sinks and fixing water leaks.
  • Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps.
  • Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls, and paints interior and exterior walls.
  • Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects, as approved by the Director of Performance Improvement & Quality Assurance and the Director of HR/Finance.
  • Performs all duties while following safety policies and procedures and with knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities at the request of the Director of Performance Improvement & Quality Assurance.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience and knowledge in: trades related to building maintenance and repair, such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry; building maintenance procedures and techniques; machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings; blueprint reading and assembly instructions; and hand and power tools.
REPORTS TO: The Facilities Maintenance Officer is supervised and accountable to the Director of Performance Improvement & Quality Assurance.
