The Role

Reporting to the Senior Planner, you will assist the Refinery in achieving effective maintenance performance through the systematic application of craft work planning and equipment data management. You will be responsible for the proactive portion of maintenance activities which entails identifying, planning, and coordinating activities that will be performed; analyzing and managing equipment databases; and assisting in the specification and purchasing of new equipment.

As part of your specific responsibilities, in the following areas, you will:

  • Identify, create, and track performance of Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and manage the Shop’s work order backlog by craft.
  • Identify items for the shop’s Long-Range Schedule.
  • Create work orders for all approved notifications assigned to the shop within 24 hrs
  • Provide the initial estimated man-hours for all work orders assigned to the shop.
  • Select the appropriate area for all work orders assigned to the shop.
  • Create work packages for daily shop activities.
  • Review, identify scope of work, and plan work orders for releasing to the Maintenance Scheduler for scheduling.
  • Estimate labor and time requirements for planned work.
  • Perform on-site assessment of jobs being planned to find opportunities for improvements
  • Create and maintain necessary Tasks Lists.
  • Create and maintain necessary Bill of Materials.
  • Selects parts and materials necessary for jobs being planned.
  • Create Requisitions and Reservations for necessary parts and material.
  • Determine and acquire necessary tools and resources for jobs.
  • Identify, write operations, and communicate required involvement and support required from other shops.
  • Notify Contractor Supervisor and Maintenance Superintendent of necessary contractors needed to perform such work.
  • Determine and ensure material availability prior to issuing to Maintenance Scheduler (Material Query).
  • Coordinate job requirements that involve other departments and resources.
  • Print the Work Orders.
  • Assemble appropriate components for the work order packages.
  • Review work order packages with appropriate Shop Supervisor and OMC.
  • Analyze equipment history files and upgrades preventive and normal maintenance procedures, including Task Lists and Bill of Materials (BOM’s).
  • Review completed work orders for accuracy of information and completes necessary notation in equipment history files. Notifies Shop Supervisor for corrective action.
  • Review and reports work-order debriefing information with Shop Supervisor.
  • Assist with additional shop requirements and callouts as needed.
  • Provide information for tracking key performance indicator for the Shop.
  • Understand and follows the Routine Maintenance Work Process Reliable and engaged in furthering organizational goals, demonstrated by maintaining high standards of personal performance, professional growth, and attendance.

The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Maintenance Planner I &E opportunity, you will have:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent, required.
  • Associates Degree or related equivalent experience in industry related field is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Minimum 3-5 years skilled trade in the Electrical / Instrumentation field. Experience in maintenance in a refinery environment, or equivalent experience in the process industry maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, techniques, and procedures used in the repairs, troubleshooting and maintenance of Refinery equipment assigned to the Maintenance Shop; occupational hazards and required safety precautions necessary to perform the work.
  • SAP knowledge that includes ability to create Work Orders from Notifications and for PM’s; create Operations within a WO; perform Material Queries; check Quantity On Hand; check for Stock versus Non-Stock; create Reservations and Requisitions; create and edit Task Lists and Bill of Materials; schedule WO, mark WO as technically complete, capture and enter equipment and job history, update WO and Operations with Partial Confirmations and Confirmation.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook.
  • Must have a driver’s license with clean abstract and be able to operate a truck and car.
