This position is responsible for the overall maintenance and appearance of the hostel. The maintenance manager will work in a proactive manner, instituting preventative measures to ensure long term functionality of hostel systems, while partnering with hostel management to plan and complete tasks/projects under fiscal and time restraints.
This is a Full Time Benefits Eligible position.

Responsibilities:*

  • Ensure building systems are maintained and operating at maximum efficiency. Monitor and manage the building preventative maintenance system including assigning requests and follow up.
  • Ensure the facility meets all local and organizational required standards.
  • Ensure that all work orders are professionally completed on time and are correctly recorded.
  • Respond to tenant service requests in a timely manner and maintain good client relations.
  • Project Manage large construction projects, including contract negotiations and bids.
  • Maintain an on-going list of projects, and to plan a daily/weekly/monthly work cycle of those projects to insure completion in a timely fashion.
  • Act as point of contact for all maintenance vendors.
  • Conduct inspections, meetings, and other NPS-related management functions.
  • Hire, supervise, manage, motivate, coach, counsel, discipline, and train all maintenance staff.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory.
  • Facilitate volunteer work groups.
  • Create and maintain maintenance and capital timelines.
  • Act as the keeper of the keys for the hostel. Assign and make keys for the hostel as needed.
  • Develop annual rooms and public space inspections, and track accordingly.
  • Other special projects or duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Degree or specialized training, and 3-5 years of maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with relevant state regulations
  • Experience managing people and/or leading a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with renovation and/or property management.
  • Experience with plumbing systems, basic electrical, carpentry, drywall, and tile.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus. English is required.
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate appearance as defined by management.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Compensation:
$22.70 to $30.00 hourly DOE
