Direct, assign and supervise the work of three supervisors in maintaining all academic and administrative buildings, athletic facilities, rental properties, residence halls and associated areas in a high standard of cleanliness. Ensure that all work related to special events taking place at the University is accomplished in a timely and satisfactory manner.

Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provides general supervision for the care and “day to day” maintenance of all University buildings and facilities.
  • Oversees building inspection program and conducts review of work performed and initiates corresponding corrective action.
  • Actively recruits, interviews, and recommends qualified employees for team’s staff positions (e.g. Building Service Assistants). .
  • Generates weekly work schedules and ensures work schedules are communicated and distributed to the department team members involved in the work.
  • Fosters and develops relationships with university staff and is key liaison for providing physical and develops relationships with University Staff for all physical arrangements for special and public occasions such as: convocations, commencements, music events, other performances, and meetings of the Board of Trustees
  • Primary contact for securing rooms for conferences, Alumni events, and summer students.
  • Initiate and coordinate work orders for building and equipment repairs and maintenance as well as Facilities Manager will assume responsibility for monitoring and inspecting the quality and quantity of work as outlined in the University’s service contracts.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors
  • Ensure adequate supplies are maintained for cleaning and lighting in buildings and custodial equipment is maintained in a working state of repair.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Arrange and direct training of custodial and housekeeping employees and ensure that all assigned staff are instructed in the safe and proper use of cleaning compounds and equipment
  • Responsible for coordinating with Safety Manager to promote an effective safety program and OSHA compliance
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with other Facilities managers to help ensure the fullest cooperation possible in common work goals
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum 3 years of related experience in managerial positions for custodial/housekeeping operations is required. Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills. Must possess functional skills in Google Sheets or Excel.


Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in a college or university environment.

Physical Demands
Working conditions require frequent standing, bending, stooping, walking up and down stairs, and the ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds. May require assisting with moving and lifting of more than 50 pounds for special events.
