General Summary

The Drop and Install Manager manages Rise Drop Technicians and contractors to ensure effective FTTH drops and installations. The scope for this role includes responsibility for meeting the drop demand within SLA, end-to-end vendor performance, leadership of cross-functional team initiatives and support of continuous performance improvement programs. This individual will ensure the team executes against strategic customer facing activities related to service activation and service assurance. Successful individual in this role will have strong analytical skills, vendor management capabilities, technical understanding of FTTH networks and strong communication skills. The Drop manager reports to the Regional OSP Construction Director.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Manage a team of internal technicians and contractors to ensure forecasted goals are met relating to cost, schedule and volume.
• Develop strategy for award of drop and install vendors that contemplates cost, crew availability, quality of work product, etc.
• Manage day-to-day schedule working closely with dispatch to ensure timely completion of drop installation and repair work and fielding necessary escalations.
• Contact customers to help resolve any installation roadblocks, manage escalations from the field and approve field estimates when drops are outside of normal parameters.
• Manage vendor relationships including invoice approval, maintaining contract requirements and other escalations.
• Work closely with sales and marketing cross functional team members to ensure alignment on specific demand
• Work closely with OSP Construction Manager to understand and coordinate network elements and accessibility
• Direct the day-to-day construction field operations, providing necessary technical guidance, quality controls and safety adherence.
• Closely monitor and maintain service levels, install/drop quality, and production/efficiency.
• Works on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and/or beyond regular work hours due to customer or operational demands, as needed.
• Participate in ongoing educational and networking opportunities to maintain current knowledge of network operations, technology changes and matters as they relate to cost-effective FTTH deployment
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years vendor management, installation, and maintenance experience.
• Experience managing telecommunication infrastructure, FTTH operations and/or OSP projects.
• A track record of increasing responsibility, including leading a team and supervising employees, contractors, and vendors.
• A proven ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail with a focus on customer experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Act as organizational interface with customers and provide internal analysis and support
• Regular contact with internal and external customers and contractor representatives involved with network design, implementation, and management.

• Employee remains in the sitting position for prolonged hours. Employee is often required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
• Must be able to work safely in a field or office environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
