Manager - Purchasing/Supply Chain

The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the management and implementation of Pemko’s purchasing strategy, ensuring an important contribution to the company’s financial results. Including all aspects of material flow and to maintain control and accuracy overall inventoried goods, including all transactions, procurement, planning, cost and warehousing to ensure that customer orders are filled on time. Supervise the daily activities of Pemko’s buyer/planner group. Ensure that the basic functionality of the team is operating in an efficient and professional manner incorporating lean and sustainable practices and disciplines throughout all activities while working in sync with other departments. Responsible for managing both short and long term strategies for inventory management as well as personnel to ensure the team procures the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost while ing JIT concepts.

Position Focus


  • Performance Improvement: contributes to improving entity performance by identifying supply chain optimization processes
  • Cost Savings: defines cost reduction objectives and strategies, plans, develops, and implements benchmarking and cost cutting activities
  • Strategic Project Procurement: lead and assist in projects pursuant of new suppliers and cost improvement
  • Inventory Management: drive improvements in inventory level optimization while maintaining stock to supply business needs

Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain key supplier relationships
  • Research and recommend new suppliers to improve cost, performance, and quality
  • Review, negotiate, and modify contract agreement terms and conditions
  • Track and understand commodity markets related to Pemko’s product mix
  • Drive lean transformation throughout the supply chain and continuous improvement in all aspects of the procurement process
  • Manage material and inventory levels through forecasting, planning, and inventory analysis
  • Develop and lead cost savings projects
  • Improve material throughput time
  • Participate in VA/VE events
  • Drive inventory management through monitoring and reporting on stock request and new product introductions
  • Communication on quality related issues between quality management team and supplier
  • Perform other related duties for the efficient and effective functioning of the working unit, includes working with quality, warehouse, plant supervisors/leads, engineering, product management, and customer service
  • Willingness to travel as needed (10% to 15% Estimate)

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or other related field
  • Advanced Knowledge of procurement and inventory principals, theories, and processes
  • 5+ years of supply management experience with proven negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a professional team of buyers
  • Strong Knowledge of ERP system – JDE preferred
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Team development and talent management skills
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills in forecasting, planning, and inventory management
  • Able to develop an active collaboration with colleagues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to influence and work through cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of cost reduction initiatives and strategies
  • Ability to multitask and contribute in a cross functional collaborative environment
