Boom Beans is fighting poverty in Eastern Kentucky by developing programs that help youth and adults start new businesses and gain workforce development training. This will create jobs and opportunities in some of the most impoverished counties in the country. This Youth Programs Expansion Developer will play a crucial role in developing the infrastructure and sustainability of Boom Beans as an organization and building the capacity of Boom Beans as an organization so it can grow to serve more youth in more counties across Eastern Kentucky. This VISTA will participate in professional development and training programs about how to successfully grow a nonprofit organization and will train Boom Beans staff, Board, and volunteers while walking them through the steps of building up the organization’s capacity and infrastructure. Once the organization is strong, the VISTA will build relationships with new schools and partners to expand Boom Beans programs to new counties in Eastern Kentucky.
Member Duties : Based on professional development gained and assistance from consultants, work with Boom Beans leadership to develop plans to build the capacity of the organization. For instance, the plan should include ways to improve the organization’s project management, communication, Board Member onboarding and development, financial and grants management processes, outcome tracking and reporting, and volunteer recruitment and coordination. Also, work with the Fundraising & Events VISTA to plan the best CRM system or other ways to track and communicate with donors and sponsors.
