Purpose of role
The Team Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of the warehouse and ensures activities are completed correctly and accurately to support production. Communicates company goals, environmental, health & safety (EHS) practices and deadlines to team members. Generates and shares comprehensive reports regarding, EHS concerns, quality issues, team performance and department objectives. Identifies areas for new training, continuous improvement and promotes team member adherence to company policies and performance goals.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assign team members tasks based on production schedule. Monitor progress and to confirm production needs are met. Record and report shift results. Support warehouse supervisor to perform root cause analysis to correct discrepancies and failed KPI target goals. Maintain accurate inventory utilizing FIFO, ERP systems and warehouse processes. Ensures system transactions and inventory transfers are documented appropriately.
  • Ensure employees are working safely and address all EHS issues immediately. Conduct safety inspections of area and facilitate safety training. Train and mentor associate on processes and any changes. Resolve any quality, abnormal conditions and escalate associate related issues. Provides encouragement to team members. Ensure 5C’s are being completed during the allotted time. Conduct shift start with associates and shift hand-off with counterpart.
  • Confirm each station has work standard and part reference sheets, each associate is certified and correctly performing processes. Confirm daily quality checks are completed. Perform Layered Process Audits daily. Collect and analyze data on part shortages, excess parts, downtime. Provide corrective action recommendations to leadership. Attend meetings as required and follow-up on any countermeasure activities. Report & work with Supervisor to correct any quality issues.
  • Train new personnel or cross-train existing personnel. Certify and sign-off on task or process training. Assist peers as needed. Identify areas or opportunities of improvement. Gain consensus from leadership and support the implementation of improvements. Complete required safety checks or inspections on equipment and/or dock areas within the warehouse. Follow all safety and forklift safety policies and procedures. Complete safety protocols during loading and unloading.
  • Using a handheld scanner, track production throughout the process. Use forklift and other warehouse related power industrial equipment, pallet jacks, hand carts, and other material handling equipment to transport materials and product throughout the facility.
  • Support and coordinate inter-facility transportation to ensure the right part is available at the right time and in the right place to enable production including, providing support to associates and supervisors during physical inventory.
  • Act as a back-up for all functions and roles in Material Services as needed.

  • Third Shift 10:30 pm - 7:00 am

Education, knowledge and experience requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year experience in a lean production/ manufacturing type environment.
  • Problem solving, communication and Microsoft Office.
