The successful candidate can expect to perform the following:
  • Develop expertise in the design, construction, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear power plants.
  • Grow and develop extensive technical expertise in US and international nuclear markets.
  • Work in teams to resolve critical issues impacting the construction and operation of nuclear power plants.
  • Perform analysis of test data and generate technical reports to document data related to cladding behavior
  • Support the development, testing, and analysis of advanced cladding materials (e.g. corrosion, mechanical testing, physical property measurement)
  • Support qualification of cladding and fuel materials in support of commercial lead test rod (LTR) irradiation campaigns
  • Apply knowledge of ceramics and materials science to support the development of uranium based oxides and related materials for nuclear fuel applications, translating engineering requirements into manufacturing instructions, development and execution of test plans and preparation of engineering analyses and calculations
  • Develop skills and the associated materials engineering knowledge in support of the design and analysis for materials used in the commercial nuclear industry such as uranium dioxide, high temperature nickel-based alloys, zirconium alloys, and stainless and pressure vessel steels.
  • Support development of advanced materials and manufacturing processes for commercial nuclear reactor fuel to enhance safety.

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
  • Bachelors in Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
  • Prior internships or co-ops in materials related industries, corrosion analysis related experience and hands on experimental work a plus
  • Must be able to apply general materials engineering principles and techniques to assist in the investigation, evaluation, and solution finding for operational issues in support of customers and internal manufacturing issues.
  • Must be able to quantify and qualify engineering opinions and judgment with calculations and supporting documentation.
