Meat Cutter Apprentice Job at Butcher Barn at Morgan Brook Farm
Morgan Brook Farm is looking to add a Meat Cutter Apprentice to our skillful team. We offer a positive, fast-paced work environment along with competitive pay and benefits package. There is plenty of room to grow within this position. This is a full time position with the possibility of part time, if need be.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist butcher with daily meat cutting and packing operations.
- Learn and become familiar with meat cuts, weights, and processing.
- Perform duties related to cutting, trimming, grinding, preparation, display, and selling of meat products.
- Wrap, weigh, and label product per protocol.
- Cultivate and enhance cutting skills under the direction of an experienced cutter.
- Receive and fulfill customer orders.
- Maintain the sharpness, cleanliness, and sterilization of knives and tools.
- Ensures preparation areas are kept clean.
- Closely follows all safety and sanitation procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to use knives, scales, and other implements safely.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow directions and safety guidelines.
- Ability to prioritize.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age and older.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 15-20 pounds at times.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
