The ideal Maintenance Mechanic candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently.


About you:



As the Maintenance Mechanic you should have a general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems and general facility repairs and possess a minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidate must have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to react to issues and emergencies. You should also be comfortable inspecting the work of the contractors and directing any improvements in services.

As the Maintenance Mechanic you will be responsible in performing preventative and scheduled maintenance throughout facility, focusing on those tasks that are best performed when the building is not fully occupied. You will also be the eyes and ears of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Facility Manager regarding contractor operations to ensure they meet IFF standards and expectations. You will install, maintain, and repair processing machinery including stills, control systems, physical structures, piping, and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment; and related equipment. You will adhere to all HACCP requirements including scheduled calibrations and protocols for releasing repaired equipment back to service (FSP-013 & FSP-014); Perform all remaining essential duties and responsibilities in accordance with the requirements of all applicable SOP’s; Correctly diagnose machine or equipment failures or malfunctions; Dismantle defective machine and equipment and install new or repaired parts; Install or repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery, equipment, or the facility.


Required Skills and Experience:


  • Minimum five years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing facility or chemical/food/pharmaceutical plant

  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and handle unexpected situations.
  • Experience with Maintenance and Repair duties incl the adjustment and alignment of all types of pumps, fluid machinery, valves, pneumatic systems, solid material processing and handling equipment, filling and packaging machinery.
  • Experience with basic welding, shop machinery, and portable power tools.
  • Trained in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, and lift truck operation
  • Boiler Operator’s License, OSHA 10 and/or formal emergency response training is a plus
  • Ability to read & comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, and work orders;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with written and verbal correspondence in English.
  • The employee may be exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions, loud noise levels.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies must be followed.

The Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift provides coverage for IFF’s Global R&D Facility. This position will overlap with the day shift and will focus on completing maintenance and Facilities tasks that cannot be completed when the building is fully occupied. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

As the Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Shift you will be responsible in performing preventative and scheduled maintenance throughout facility, focusing on those tasks that are best performed when the building is not fully occupied. You will perform room set-ups in preparation for the following day’s events. You will also be the eyes and ears of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Facility Manager regarding off-shift contractor operations to ensure they meet IFF standards and expectations.


Required Skills:


  • Must be available from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Friday
  • Minimum five years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in an R&D or educational facility or chemical/food/pharmaceutical plant
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and handle unexpected situations.

Required Experience:


  • Experience with Maintenance and Repair duties including the adjustment and alignment of all typesof pumps, fluid machinery, valves, pneumatic systems, steam systems, solid material processing and handling equipment, filling and packaging machinery.
  • Experience with basic welding, shop machinery, and portable power tools.
  • Trained in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, LOTO, and lift truck operation
  • Boiler Operator’s License (Low Pressure), OSHA 10 and/or formal emergency response training is a plus
