POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanical and Electrical Assembler is a combination position that requires mechanical assembly operations and assembly of electrical components and or sub-assemblies to produce compressor systems while achieving maximum efficiency. This position reports to the Assembly Operations Supervisor/CIC.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Utilize these drawings in placement of parts.
  • Receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Install and connect electrical components such as transformers, terminal boards, motors, wiring harnesses, etc., following a blueprint.
  • Build wiring harnesses to required specifications.
  • Effectively and efficiently run cabling and properly terminate ends.
  • Accurately follow schematic while pinning out control boxes.
  • Communicate effectively to the immediate supervisor the status of needed parts to produce units, assemblies and harnesses.
  • Use any specialized tooling that is required within the respective area. Complete any necessary certifications if required to do so.
  • Route and connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
  • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies as needed.
  • Assemble units using standard hand and power tools to include air-powered tools by reading from schematics, drawings and diagrams.
  • Perform belt alignments on gas, diesel, or electric motors.
  • Hand bend and swage tubing when required.
  • Perform co-worker’s job functions during absences within the department.
  • Maintain work environment in accordance with Lean 5S standards and perform tasks in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Understand BOM change process and communicate change requirements throughout build.
  • Maintain Change Documentation.
  • Maintain personal conduct within the guidelines of the employee handbook and safety manual.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Workmanship Standards as well as the ISO quality system. Utilize these practices in everyday activity.
  • Be able to perform heavy lifting up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance.
  • Able to problem solve using root-cause analysis and other methodologies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in mechanical assembly, point-to-point electrical wiring and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting standard measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, squares, etc.
  • Able to follow directions and work independently.
  • Able to identify and safely operate standard hand, power and air tools.
  • General understanding of piping, tubing (stainless steel) swaging and belt alignment.
  • Possess high quality standards.
  • Self-starter, ability to resolve issues and research solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimal supervision in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively.

VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • General understanding of and incorporate Lean problem solving methodologies (ex- 5Why, Fishbone Diagrams, etc.) to facilitate process improvement.
  • Forklift experience
  • Leadership certifications or experience
  • General understanding of overhead and/or jib crane operation.

  • No direct reports.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use of eyes for close vision, use hands, fingers, grasp, handle, reach, listen, talk and may need to talk on the telephone while taking notes. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or ask for assistance.

The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dBA. The employee is required to wear the necessary eye and foot protection.

Normal working schedule: Monday through Thursday; 6am to 4:30pm; occasional overtime and weekend hours required at times.
