Mechanical Engineer

In support of our client, a global industry leader in the steel and OCTG market, ResourceTek is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support tube manufacturing operations at our client’s tube manufacturing operations in Blytheville, Arkansas. This is a long term, project-based assignment supporting an on-going Engineering services contract with a multi-year duration (possibility of direct hire). This person could also be a strong Mechanical Designer who has performed Field Engineering duties.

In this role, the selected candidate will manage projects from concept through installation. Projects will include modifications to existing equipment to specification and design of new manufacturing equipment. Projects are performed in coordination with Maintenance, Engineering and Production departments and effective communication skills are required.

Previous experience in the specification and installation of heavy industrial equipment that includes pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, motors, shafts, heat transfer, drive systems, etc. Prior experience in the design and field installation of equipment for metal forming and/or other heavy equipment is beneficial. Candidates with experience working in engineering companies or similar industries such as manufacturing facilities are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor is required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling, coordination, and management of industrial contractors in the field related to the installation of industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, and drawing.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies and reduce production problems.
  • Coordinate efforts with internal Engineers and Managers, Designers, and Vendors to resolve design issues. Must have the ability to work on various projects at one time

Additional Duties:

  • Development of basic engineering and technical specifications as required by projects
  • Support purchasing with technical analysis of the quotes received and supplier selection
  • Basic knowledge of LEAN Initiatives (SMED, One piece flow, 5S, VSM, Pokayoke, etc.)
  • Follows all work instructions, specifications and related requirements as pertain.
  • Supports construction and fabrication of new / revamp of existing equipment
  • Follows all related work instructions, specifications, and requirements.
  • Follow all Company Rules, Procedures and Policies.
  • Follow all Company Safety Rules.

Requirements:

  • Degree is not required, although preferred.
  • Has a good knowledge in Mechanical engineering and can perform engineering calculations, technically design, and implement solutions for complex systems
  • 7-10 years minimum in project management, engineering, or maintenance departments.
  • 7-10 years minimum mechanical design experience
  • Has basic knowledge for electrical, automation and civil engineering
  • Experience with project execution and implementation in the field
  • Experience in electrical, automation, plumbing, pneumatic, hydraulic systems preferred
  • General tooling knowledge as it pertains to machining of metal.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and to meet deadlines.
  • CAD experience - AutoCAD / Inventor
  • Ability to understand and execute instructions well.
  • Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
