MEP Project Engineer / Drafter - 5 Years Experience Required

**This job will be preformed remotely from home 85% of the time, but may require occasional travel to the job site locations**

MDS Maintenance is a mechanical and plumbing firm that has built a great reputation in the industry over the past 20 years that continues to grow. We specialize in ground-up construction of High-End Senior Living Facilities, Multi-Family Complexes as well as Hospitality projects with an emphasis on VRV / VRF mechanical systems with central domestic boilers plants in the Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Denver, and Nashville markets.

We are seeking an Experienced Mechanical and Plumbing Engineer / Drafter to join our existing engineering team, with a minimum of 5 years drafting of mechanical VRV/VRF systems and plumbing boiler or TEAL systems experience. Candidate must have experience using Revit & NAVIS, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible and challenging environment. Candidate must be a team player, have a positive attitude and be willing to work hard.

MEP Project Engineer / Drafter Responsibilities:

  • Make shop drawings on Revit and NAVIS for HVAC and Plumbing
  • Read and determine applicability of codes (IMC, IPC, UPC, City codes etc.)
  • Prepare coordination drawings and highlight the clashes
  • Upload shop drawings on total station for field crew
  • Attend Design and BIM coordination meetings with design engineer/Architect weekly
  • Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
  • Prepare and submit RFI's
  • Prepare material and equipment submittal
  • Facilitates internal pre-construction and recurring project meetings as required
  • Assists with creating and distributing any required project submittals, requests for information and change orders to PM and Superintendent
  • Quality Control with In-Field Inspections

MEP Project Engineer / Drafter Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have a Minimum of 5 years Mech / Plumbing Drafting/Coordination Experience
  • Must be accurate and accountable in completing assigned tasks
  • Must be organized, and have the ability to multi-task
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as working with a team to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and execute multiple assignments
  • Ability to provide superior attention to detail
  • General construction knowledge
  • Bachelors Degree in Architectural Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or other related field

Experience:

  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience

Location:

  • MDSM currently has projects located in the Austin, Denver, Dallas and Nashville areas, with previous experience also in the San Antonio, Houston and Jacksonville, FL markets. This job will be preformed remotely from home 85% of the time, but may require occasional travel to the job site locations. We prefer the candidate to live within Texas, Colorado, or Tennessee, but will consider anyone.
