Optum and the Institute for American Apprenticeships are currently seeking individuals who are passionate about patients and committed to acquiring the knowledge and skills required to be a Medical Assistant. These opportunities are for ALL individuals, especially those with NO prior healthcare experience.

Up to ten (10) individuals will be selected for this apprenticeship program and hired by Optum. The program includes a paid, intensive, ten week virtual class session. After the classroom portion, the apprentices will receive paid On-the-Job training to fully support their transition into the role. Apprentices are full-time employees with benefits from the first day of the program. Application deadline is January 4th, 2023.

THE TRAINING IS PROVIDED AT NO COST to the participants and will prepare them to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam (CCMA) to become Certified Clinical Medical Assistants. The exam fee is covered by the Institute for American Apprenticeships

The wage for the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program starts at $17.00 per hour. At the end of the 10-week classroom portion and completion of the CCMA, the pay increases to $18.50, and apprentices are eligible for a $6,000 SIGN-ON BONUS. Pay increases again to $19.50 at 6 months, and to $20.50 at the end of the program.

All positions are fulltime and include Optum's comprehensive benefits package.
