Raritan Bay Area YMCA is looking for an energetic, outgoing, customer service driven individual to join their Welcome Center Team. Welcome Center representatives provide the best member experience for all members. They are expected to greet members, perform basic functions in the membership department and assist with any membership or branch events.

Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Member Service Representative will be responsible for assisting with all procedures related to the enrollment of members, enrolling program participants, controlling access to the facility, and all facets of providing exceptional customer service. The employee will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of all membership data, answering the telephones, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the lobby and café area.

The Member Service Representative must exhibit sound judgment, have great interpersonal skills, and the ability to function well in a fast-paced environment. One must demonstrate the qualities of a positive role model in working with customers. You will demonstrate a cause driven leadership through the following YMCA Leadership Competencies- Mission Advancement; Collaboration; Operational Effectiveness and Personal Growth. The Member Services representative engages in and promotes the YMCA mission through the core values: Honesty, Caring, Responsibility and Respect.

Requirements:

Membership Representative will be expected to:

  • Be available to work weekday morning, afternoons, and weekends as needed.
  • Have good computer skills and be able to learn membership CRM system quickly.
  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  • Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.

-Adhere to dress code - Must wear name tag, staff shirt, black or khaki pants, comfortable shoes or sneakers. No open toe shoes. (for safety reasons)

  • Process memberships and take photos for membership cards. Ensuring accuracy in spelling and non-duplication in the database.
  • For the safety and security of staff, members and volunteers you must pay close attention to the scan station, confirming that every person walking in the facility scans their ID and/or stopping all members that may scan “invalid membership”.
  • Warmly and enthusiastically greets people with a smile and actively uses direct eye contact.
  • Staff member is fully responsible for cash drawer at workstation.
  • Help with executing member related programs.
  • Attend Monthly Meetings on Saturday or Sunday evening
