Our mental health Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) and Crisis programs are hiring for positions that will provide cross-coverage in our 3 local mental health programs. POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker is a member of the RHSC IRTS team. The Mental Health Worker works under the direction of a mental health practitioner or mental health professional, and under the clinical supervision of a mental health professional in the implementation of rehabilitative mental health services as identified in the recipient's individual treatment plan. Mental Health Workers provide direct care services to support a safe and supportive environment and are responsible for maintaining the safety and welfare of program residents. You would provide crisis interventions, daily rehabilitation interventions, structure of the program, support to residents, medication administration. In this role, you will also maintain documentation in electronic medical records, and compliance to policy and procedures.

Afton Place is an intensive residential mental health treatment center. Sixteen single-rooms create a safe and supportive environment where individuals work to reach their recover goals and rejoin the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 21 years of age or older

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Must meet ONE the following qualifications:

a) Has 2 years of full-time postsecondary education or a total of 15 semester hours or 23 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or human services;

b) Is a registered nurse without a bachelor's degree;

c) Within the previous ten years has three years of personal life experience with serious mental illness;

d) Within the previous ten years, has three years of life experience as a primary caregiver to an adult with a serious mental illness or traumatic brain injury; substance use disorder, or developmental disability;

e) Within the previous ten years, 2,000 hours of supervised work experience in the delivery of mental health services to adults with a serious mental illness, traumatic brain injury, substance use disorder, or developmental disability.


Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Current Medication Administration Certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s license with no driving restrictions and ability to drive residents as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass the DHS Background Study
  • Ability to operate computer program including Epic, Outlook, MS Office
  • Interpersonal skills- Ability to listen, remain open and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ethics and ability to treat others with compassion, caring, and empathy
  • Communication skills- ability to listen and respond with clear and supportive messages. Communication with clear and positive engagement
  • Teamwork- ability to work respectfully with team members, welcoming feedback, contributing in team meetings, actively engage in shift duties.
  • Ability to work independently, initiate and problem-solve work independently
  • Ability to manage high level of stress
  • Able to work with patients with difficult emotional, behavioral problems and, or mental illness symptoms and respond with person centered approach.
  • Able to work collaboratively and seek clinical supervision
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associates’ Degree in Behavioral Health field or higher

Experience:

  • 2000 hours experience providing services to individuals with: mental illness, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury or developmental disability.
  • Successfully completed 30 hours of training during the two years immediately prior to the date of hire in all of the following areas: recovery from mental illness, mental health de-escalation techniques, recipient rights, recipient-centered individual treatment planning, behavioral terminology, mental illness, co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse, psychotropic medications and side effects, functional assessment, local community resources, adult vulnerability, recipient confidentiality

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: First Aid, CPR
