Position Overview

This position is primarily responsible for the daily set-up and operation of hydraulic CNC controlled press brakes in a precision sheet metal fabrication shop. He/she may be required to assist other employees as a helper on key work or machines as required by the work schedule.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate CNC press brakes.
• Set-up and run complex bend set-ups and forming operations. This includes custom punch/die modification used in combination with other tooling.
• Complex programming using all features of the press brakes. E.g., bending angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps, delays, etc.
• Perform quality inspections while maintaining the production process so that quality output is achieved insuring sufficient parts of acceptable quality is produced to fulfill the order.
• Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
• Organize parts and prepare them for the next process.
• Expedite priority work orders as required in cooperation with the Production Supervisor.
• Account for time and work completed via online computer data collection system.

• Thorough understanding of flat pattern layout.
• Understand print reading and geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part.
• Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of tasks working under general supervision.
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Computer Literate.
• Excellent organizational skills with a mathematical aptitude and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong orientation toward safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Required Education and Experience

• High school graduate/GED.
• 1-3 years’ experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Vocational Training in Metal Fabrication.
• Specific training in Brake Press.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $17.50 – $19.50/hr.
