Miller Mechanical Specialties Inc., a Representative company of Endress+Hauser, Inc., is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant with invoicing knowledge to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, this position will be responsible for customer invoicing, commissions, day-to-day accounting activities, and assisting with the monthly close. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience and strong accounting skills to join a small, high-growth, 60-year-old business with a fun work environment. This position will be working out of their office in downtown Des Moines.

Role + Responsibilities

Duties to include but not limited to:

• Create customer project invoices, verify costs, determine sales tax and allocate commissions
• Process commission reports
• Code and enter accounts payable
• Post customer receipts, resolve discrepancies and contact past due accounts
• Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts
• Process expense reports
• Review income and expense accounts for proper classification.
• Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger
• Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
• Protect confidential information
  

Qualification + Profile

• 2-year degree or more preferred
• Experience in invoicing customers, verifying costs and determining sales tax status
• Minimum three years accounting experience, preferably in a distribution environment
• General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Knowledge of sales and use tax
• Previous experience with ERP systems
• Excellent organization and analytical skills
• Strong work ethic and detail oriented
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products, with advanced Excel skills required.
• Able to multi-task and effectively prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Positive personality and a willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships
