TITLE: Mini-Bus Driver
Department of Parks and Recreation, Recreation Division
RATE: $17.50 per hour
SUMMARY:
This is a position of considerable responsibility. The employee in this position is responsible for
operation of the Township of Lower Merion mini-bus along with interaction and safe transport of
passengers to various locations. This position involves working primarily on Saturdays and/or Sundays,
as well as various weekday hours, as assigned or required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general direction of the Recreation Supervisor, and ultimately the Director of Parks and
Recreation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for transporting individuals as assigned.
Inspect the mini-bus with daily checklist prior to operation. Notify the Fleet Maintenance Division and
Parks and Recreation Department if maintenance is required.
Plan route to trip destination prior to leaving. Also plan alternate routes if needed.
Assist passengers boarding and disembarking the bus.
Assist passengers with transport and storage of baggage.
Ensure that all guidelines established to maintain CDL licensing are followed.
Maintain the overall cleanliness of the vehicle.
Check bus schedule regularly for any schedule changes.
Maintain proper reports as required.
Maintain regular communication with the Recreation Supervisor.
Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Previous bus driving experience.
Valid Class B (CDL B) driver's license with passenger endorsements.
Good driving record.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner.
Ability to work well with all ages.
Ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner.
Ability to think clearly and effectively under pressure.
Ability to follow and enforce all of the rules and regulations governing the mini-bus.
Flexibility with work schedule.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, and members
of the community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, and reach above shoulder level frequently at all levels.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of materials.
Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and handle equipment and vehicle controls.
Ability to drive and operate equipment included within a mini-bus.
