Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient and productive operation of Plant operations under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Team Lead.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Mission and Values.
- Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and situations arising in plant operations.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate work with Production and Maintenance.
- Abide by and ensure compliance with all Company rules and guidelines and all applicable state and federal laws.
- Directly supervise and mentor hourly employees dedicated to the crew. This includes setting annual goals and managing career development with those individuals.
- Manage the time collection system.
- Conduct crew meetings/trainings.
- Conduct weekly safety audits and complete safety interactions.
- Assistance administering the performance management process.
- Other duties as assigned by the Company.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of plant, mill or crushing related experience or BS Degree in electrical and mechanical engineering with three years of plant, mill or crushing related experience.
- Minimum of six months of previous supervisor/step-up experience.
- Must have or obtain within one year Miner Foreman's Certification.
- Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to recognize and develop skills and abilities in others.
- Ability to listen and encourage transfer of information, suggestions and concerns.
- Knowledge required of PPRS programs; such as Safety, Technician System, Corrective Action, Performance Management and effective supervisory practices.
- Ability to work with SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of operational, mechanical and welding functions in the plant.
- Demonstrated ability to schedule and oversee contractors throughout the plant.
- Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with coal supply agreements with respect to train loading specifications and coal quality requirements.
- Knowledge of coal quality.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements - Surface Environment
- Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
- Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
- Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
- Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
- Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
- Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
