The successful candidate will support review of grant applications being submitted to a federal government agency for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Endangered Species Act and other environmental regulations. This role may include development of guidance, processes, policy and training materials, as well as provision of technical assistance to the federal agency and grant applicants. Additionally, the role will support maintenance of the grant's administrative records. The preferred candidate will have extensive experience performing the complete lifecycle of Environmental Assessments, including monitoring of mitigation actions, post issuance of a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

· Review and comment on grantee and federal agency environmental and historic preservation (EHP) and related project documentation, including applicants’ initial proposals, draft and final environmental assessments (EAs), and state/tribal historic office (SHPO) consultation documentation

· Evaluate draft and final EAs to assess whether proposed projects will minimize potential for adverse impacts to environmental and historic resources and will meet the requirements of NEPA, NHPA, Endangered Species Act (ESA), Clean Water Act (CWA) and other federal/state/local environmental and historic preservation laws, executive orders and regulations

· Actively track and maintain EHP document reviews’ status, comments, and follow up actions

· Assist with drafting determination memoranda and decision documents, including Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) documents and Categorical Exclusion (CATEX) determination memoranda

· Support additional EHP technical, programmatic, and administrative tasks, such as administrative records management, development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, creation of briefing decks which summarize EHP program and project reviews, and review of EHP related mitigation and monitoring plans

Expected Deliverables:

· Regular deliverables will likely include the following: Summaries of comments and recommendations on draft and final EAs, draft memos, spreadsheets, and briefing decks.

Note: Must be able to work on a W2 basis
