Position Title: General Labor Salary/Hourly: Hourly
Shift: Night Shift 40+ hours weekly
General Summary
General labor is responsible for safely handling lumber products. Verifies material meets customer requirements and company expectations. Maintains proper paperwork. Works under immediate supervision; relies on specific direction and instructions.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma/GED preferred but not required
- No minimum experienced required, but manufacturing, construction, or lumber experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of basic math
- Successfully pass a drug test

Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in a safe manner and participate in safety initiatives
- Ability to recognize size/grade/quality of material
- Demonstrate the ability to use and operate hand tools and other equipment as required
- Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directions
- Demonstrate ability to stack material properly
- Ability to pay attention to surroundings
- Ability to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipment malfunctions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work under immediate supervision and work hours mandated by management
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
- Moves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructions
- Stack finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements
- Labels material based on the following specifications: type, size, and count
- Applies individual tags to material before/after treating production
- Uses a staple gun, hand tools, and other equipment as directed
- Bands, bundles, and secures materials
- Follows instruction for stacking material properly and according to company policy and requirements
- Ensures correct quantities and material are strapped, labeled before leaving the work area
- Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor
- Records production accurately
- Maintains work area and ensures it is organized and clean (assist with housekeeping in work area)
- Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.
- Performs other duties as required.
