Summary:
Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities such as direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and administrative/clerical support.

1. Formal Education Required:
a. Must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation, OR must be enrolled as a full time or part time student in a licensed practical nursing program and have completed the first two clinical rotations.
b. Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions and perform basic mathematical functions

2. Experience and Training Required:
a. Must complete Summa’s orientation
b. Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter

f. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, frequent pushing, pulling and lifting of patients, cleaning equipment, and materials
g. Ability to provide necessary care for patients (i.e. neonate/newborns, children, adolescents, young adults, middle-age adults, and geriatric adults) as required by position
h. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
b. Exposure to blood and body fluids and sharps; risks to falls, strains, contagious diseases, etc.
