The individual will be a member of US Oncology Marketing Leadership Team and will be responsible for strategic planning and commercial development efforts in the US for Jazz’s oncology products. This individual will work closely with others in numerous functional areas including but not limited to Brand Teams, Market Access Value, Forecasting, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Advocacy, Global Product Team, Clinical and other colleagues. This position will report to the VP Marketing, Oncology and will work closely with the US Brand Leads as well as the global product leads.

Brief Description:

Jazz Oncology currently consists of 4 FDA approved products as well as a number of pipeline candidates that may gain approval in the coming years. The portfolio spans multiple tumor areas across both hematologic and solid tumors.

The Oncology Strategic Planning Director will lead the brand’s long term market development efforts across the portfolio of Jazz oncology products, with a specific focus on shaping the market for indications that may gain approval in the 2+ year time frame. The oncology strategic planning director will work closely with the US brand leads to define the US plans and decisions for commercial development and planning for our current and near term portfolio. The role will also own execution on any market developing initiatives needed to maximize the value of future launches or indications and will be heavily involved in execution of Jazz’s presence at pan-tumor conferences (i.e. ASCO).

Specific duties:

  • Create market development strategies and gain alignment for the US commercial perspective & forecast on development approaches for potential oncology indications in the 2+ year time frame
  • Develop strategies with medical affairs and patient advocacy to shape the future of identified oncology indications and address potential competitive situations
  • Develop initial patient journey work for longer term indications – including diagnosis, screening, diagnostic, and payer/access components as appropriate
  • Partner with RWE and HEOR teams to develop data generation strategies and initiatives that will support Jazz oncology indications
  • Support the annual operating and tactical plan development process focused on market development activities (which may include multi year investments)
  • Support the development of revenue and long-term financial forecast assumptions in partnership with VP Marketing and brand leads
  • Partner with brand leads and medical leads (or designees) to maximize Jazz impact at multi-tumor conferences (i.e. ASCO)
  • Partner with competitive intelligence team to ensure franchise readiness in future competitive landscapes
  • Evaluate new formulations, label updates and assessment of future indications

Essential Functions

  • Lead development of long-term market shaping strategy for any identified oncology markets to support long term brand growth
  • Anticipate and support data generation efforts in partnership with global, value, brand and clinical/medical teams
  • Support the development of the long-term financial forecast assumptions in partnership with brand leads, the VP marketing, and the forecasting center of excellence team
  • Partner with competitive intelligence team to ensure franchise readiness in future competitive landscapes
  • Evaluation of new formulations, label updates and assessment of future indications

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of commercial pharmaceutical work experience, 3+ years of which commercial development work
  • Significant oncology experience ideally across multiple tumor areas
  • Experience in market shaping and defining a category with successful outcome of brand growth
  • Companion diagnostic experience and sales experience preferred

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related discipline; MBA is desirable
  • 10+ years previous US pharmaceutical with strong commercial experience and long-term strategy development
  • Demonstrated success in commercial/marketing roles in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with strong commercial development execution, and market analytics skills.
  • Demonstrated record of effectively working in cross-functional team and effective collaborator
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and application
  • Pharmaceutical career progression demonstrating growth in responsibility and scope, particularly in commercial positions

  • Frequent computer laptop or tablet use, not usually at a workstation.
  • Responsibilities may require a work schedule that may include working outside of “normal” work hours, in order to meet business demands.

For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $176,000-$231,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
