Position Summary
The Online Education Course Consultant position is grant funded and will assist with the development of online course materials and aid in the development of learning goals and strategies for a grant initiative. Responsible for assisting faculty with the design and development of courses and revisions of existing courses. The Online Course Consultant reports to the Associate Provost of Online Education.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree and 2-3 years of instructional design experience in higher education.
- Successful completion of at least one Quality Matters or other professional development course related to online instruction.
- Familiar with Blackboard course design and quality online standards.
- Familiar with Coursera and other global online learning platforms.
- Familiar with digital authoring tools.
- Familiar with web conferencing software (Blackboard Collaborate, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Comfortable and skilled communicating with a non-technical audience.
- Work independently and as a member of a team, to take initiative, and adapt to dynamic and ever-changing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of instructional design experience in higher education.
- Strong analytical ability to assess and evaluate a student’s needs and provide individualized action plans
- Experience supporting online learners preferred
- Experience working with underrepresented populations
- Project management experience/skills
Preferred Education/Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Assist Associate Provost of Online Education with course quality initiative
- Supports the development of initiatives involving fully online and hybrid courses
- Monitor and report progress of online course development for grant initiative
- Collaborate with online team and technology team to develop and implement course development strategies guided by online best practices
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
